Funeral services for Karyn “Cherokee” Leonard, age 55, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marty Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home.
Ms. Leonard was born in Springhill, LA on May 12, 1957 to Edward “Billy” and Betty Jo Kelly Leonard and died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at her home in Sarepta, LA. She was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of New Sarepta Baptist Church and a former employee of the IP Container Division for 4 years. Karyn was known to her nieces and nephews as “Sissi”; she loved everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her son, Tremayne, was the love of her life, a precious son known for his mission work for the Lord. She is preceded in death by her great-nephew, Aidan Troquille.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to her special friends, Mary Cheatham and Kalin Sayers for their love and care.
She is survived by her parents, Edward A. “Billy” and Betty K. Leonard of Sarepta, LA; son, Sheldon Tremayne Russ of Shreveport, LA; sister, Anita K. Troquille of Bossier City, LA; brother, Ricky Leonard of Sarepta, LA; nieces, Rhianna, Angel and Lauren; nephews, Caine and Jacob; great-nieces, Mia and Dextanee; great-nephews, Braxton and Zaidyn and sister in law, Donna Leonard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tremayne Russ, Jacob Leonard, Caine Troquille,Tyler Holtzclaw and Josh Uzzle, Terry Whitehead, Honorary pallbearers will be Braxton Leonard and Daniel Compton.
